The VUKN held its 5th AGM on 13 May generously hosted by Arup at their Fitzroy St offices.
About 50 people attended. Chairman Warwick Morris ran through some of the Network’s activities of the past 12 months, highlighting events to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations, a House of Lords dinner, and a major Education event. His full Statement is available on the website. Treasurer Jakki Lydall reported on the Network’s finances. 18 Committee members were elected/re-elected.
Representing Ambassador An, the Vietnamese Embassy’s Economic Counsellor Nguyen Lan Anh spoke about the good work done jointly by the Network and the Embassy, thanked the Network for their valuable contributions to the growing relationship, mentioned several recent high level visits, and drew attention to Vietnam’s current GDP growth rate estimated to be an impressive 6.8% for 2019. Vice Chairman Paul Smith thanked all present for their support, urged more use of social media to spread word of the VUKN and its achievements, and underlined the need for additional sponsorship for future events such as the Women in Business Forum planned for October. A lively networking reception followed the AGM.
